“Quantitative reconstructions of activity and attenuation from time-of-flight PET data”

Time-of-flight positron emission tomography (PET) has enabled reconstructions of an activity/attenuation pair from the emission data. Although more sensitive compared to the gold-standard reconstructions in PET/CT and PET/MR, it is found that with accurate scanner calibrations and data corrections, quantitatively accurate tracer distributions comparable to the state-of-the-art can be obtained.

Briev CV: Ahmadreza Rezaei is a senior post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Imaging and Pathology, KU Leuven, Belgium. His work focuses specifically on advanced image reconstruction techniques in emission/transmission tomography. For his contributions to “time-of-flight PET image reconstruction and system calibration” he was awarded the 2019 Bruce Hasegawa Young Investigator award which is given annually to a young individual in recognition of significant and innovative technical contributions to the field of medical imaging science by the IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society (NPSS).
